Dr Sarah Murgatroyd is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon with subspecialty interests in paediatric orthopaedics and upper limb surgery (including hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder conditions). She manages both acute injuries and developmental conditions in children, with a strong emphasis on collaborative care and clear GP referral pathways.

Dr Sarah Murgatroyd is a fellowship-trained Orthopaedic Surgeon with subspecialty interests in paediatric orthopaedicsand upper limb surgery, including hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder conditions. She offers comprehensive care for both children and adults, with a strong focus on collaborative management and clear referral pathways for general practitioners.
Dr Murgatroyd welcomes referrals for acute injuries in children, including fractures and sports-related trauma, as well as the full spectrum of developmental and congenital orthopaedic conditions. She regularly manages:
• Gait abnormalities and leg alignment concerns
• Hip dysplasia and Perthes disease
• Clubfoot and foot deformities
• Post-fracture complications or growth disturbances
• Cerebral palsy and other neuromuscular conditions
• Congenital limb differences
• Acute orthopaedic injuries and trauma
Raised in the UK, Dr Murgatroyd graduated from the University of London in 2004 and completed her Orthopaedic training in New Zealand, receiving her Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2015. She undertook advanced subspecialty training in Upper Limb Surgery in Sydney and Brisbane, and completed a year-long Paediatric Orthopaedic Fellowship at Southampton Children’s Hospital, where she stayed on as a Consultant through to 2018.
She currently holds a public appointment at Redcliffe Hospital and provides private care for both adult and paediatric patients. Her practice draws on extensive international experience in high-volume trauma centres, with a particular focus on child and adolescent upper limb injuries, developmental conditions, and surgical reconstruction.
Dr Murgatroyd is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and a member of both the Australian and New Zealand Orthopaedic Associations. She is also involved in training future surgeons through the University of Queensland and the Australian Orthopaedic Association.
